Computers and their applications are fun to use, fun to figure out how to operate, and fun to talk about. The purpose of the Lake Gaston Computer Club is to facilitate all three of these concepts. We do this through meetings, classes and forums.
In our meetings, we explore the capabilities of these digital marvels with presentations by locals and experts from out of town. The forums are informal affairs where interested people meet, watch demonstrations, raise questions and discuss their experiences. Our classes are based on popular applications, and we sponsor a number of active Special Interest Groups on Genealogy, MAC computers and iPads. A "key function" in our operation is the much appreciated technical support group at our Repair Shop. So if you have a problem with your computer, the Repair Shop can likely help you out on Monday mornings.
The Lake Gaston Computer Club helps its members understand the most current computer technology and learn the skills necessary to function in today’s world. It offers something for everyone and provides opportunities to meet new friends.

Lakeland Cultural Arts Center
Don't forget our Club is sponsoring the movie "Inside Out" on April 17th at Lakeland at 1 pm. After young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness - conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school. Starting on September 12, 2023 the monthly meetings for the Lake Gaston Computer Club will be held at the Lakeside Lutheran Church at 2427 Eaton Ferry Road, Littleton, NC in their Social Hall. The meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month.
Note: As of January 2024, the meetings return to their regularly scheduled time of 1:00 pm.

Single Board Computers
What are they? We have heard of the “Rasberry Pi” before and seen it in action. Did you know that Dell makes one called the “Dell Optiplex? They come in all sizes and prices from $35 to $700, with multiple functions.
Stan Lewis will help us understand the single-Board Computers at our April membership meeting. The SBC is a complete, functioning computer in which the microprocessor, input/output functions, memory, and other features are all built on a single circuit board, with RAM built-in at a predetermined amount and with no expansion slots for peripherals.
